Our Low-Budget Summer Bucket List (That’s Still Full of Magic)
Summer always feels a little overwhelming to me—like I had to create nonstop memories, keep the kids entertained 24/7, and somehow do it all with limited money and energy. But this year, now that both of the kids are bigger and my youngest is finally walking I feel like adventuring out won’t be so hectic
Here’s a peek at our simple, low-cost summer bucket list. Most of these things are free. The rest cost only a few dollars or are things we already have.
Our Summer Bucket List (Frugal + Fun)
- Have a park picnic (even if it’s just PB&Js)
- Visit the local splash pad
- Go to the local state park for a nature walk
- Farmer’s market
- Museums
- Downtown Festivals
- Free Days at the Zoo
- Children’s Museum
- Bell Isle Aquarium and Conservatory
This is a starting list as I usually see things as they pop up on Facebook or in mom groups. Also as someone in a one car family we really only have the weekend to do stuff so having 101 things on my list just feels like I’m setting myself up for failure and I feel like moms feel like they’re failing enough as it is!
If you’re looking for ways to make summer special without spending much (or anything), I hope this gives you a few ideas. You don’t need to do it all. Even one sweet memory this week is enough.
